Creator Weekly Wrap-Up! ~ April 28, 2016

Welcome back! This has been a busy week for both of us, both in terms of book stuff and in terms of other projects. Let's see what we can lay out.

First off, Ginger has been working away at binding physical copies of the first book! (That's right, our self-publishing is so "self," we even put the books together in-house!) Keep an eye on our social media for when preorders will be going out.

Fans of the Twelfth Doctor, go check out Ginger's latest T-shirt, inspired by Bill's rather apt description of the Doctor. You can buy it from her Etsy shop!

Starting today, Kara will be at RavenCon in Williamsburg, VA! She won't be doing any panels or interviews, as she's busy both running the Artist/Author Alley and staffing the Onezumi Events table. But she'll have some cute Owl's Flower postcards, so come pick one up if you see her!

And speaking of Onezumi Events, Ginger and Kara are working together with con chair Oni Hartstein on rebranding for PotterVerse, the company's upcoming Harry Potter convention! (Well, Ginger is doing most of the work; Kara is offering vague guidance here and there.) Guests announced so far include Miriam Margolyes, Chris Rankin, and Adrian Rawlins, with more to come!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend -- check back soon for more news!

Owl's Flower Weekly Wrap-Up! ~ April 21, 2017

So usually this the time of week when we talk about what Ginger and Kara have been up to on the side. Well, they're definitely up to things (some of which will be unveiled on other sites next week), but right now we want to focus more on OF itself.

Because.

THE BOOKS ARE BEING ASSEMBLED!

The pages were divided between Catprint and Imagination Print and Design (where Ginger works) to enable us to insert full-colour illustrations without driving up the overall book cost. As you can see, they turned out pretty nice.

We're happy to continue to offer the first book as a free download and all forthcoming ebook editions on a pay-what-you-want model, but we know that many readers (ourselves included!) want something for the shelf. If you preordered, this is just a sneak peek at the unbound version of what you're getting!

We'll offer more information on shipping dates when we're closer to being done. For now, remember that you can still buy the first book here!

Next week, we'll have lots of cool announcements for you -- including completed print book info, personal projects, and our work with a certain other owl of note. Stay tuned!

Creator Weekly Wrap-Up! ~ April 14, 2017

Welcome back! Just a few notes before we get on to the announcements.

First, those of you waiting for print copies of book 1, we remember you! The books are being assembled this weekend, and we'll put out social media alerts when they're ordered. Remember you can still get the first ebook free, but if you really like it and want a hard copy, paperbacks are available for $10!

Now, on to the individual news.

First, Series 10 of Doctor Who starts tomorrow, so it's a great time to remind you that Ginger has some amazing Twelfth Doctor stuff in her Etsy shop. Ride out this final season of Capaldi (ouch...) with us and pick up shirts, prints, charms, and more!

If you prefer Redbubble, she's got things on there, too! Check out her shop for phone cases, travel mugs, notebooks, and more!

If you like seeing Kara write about weird magical trees, hop on over to Rooted, where you can read a free essay on the trees of Avebury. The site has a lot of other creative nonfiction about trees and our relationship to them -- which is perfect for an Owl's Flower fan!

And if you're an anime nerd, go check out The Hook, Kara's new weekly feature on Crunchyroll where she previews the first episodes of two new anime and tells you what will make them grab you.

That's all for now... except to say that Book 2 is nearing completion! So expect to see some previews for it in the near future!

Creator Weekly Wrap-Up! ~ April 7, 2017

Hey, everyone! (Re)Gen recovery is pretty much done, so we're back with our words to our fans on what each of us has been up to individually as we work away on the next books!

First up, Ginger has completely redone her portfolio site. It's got samples of her professional and fan work, as well as links to everything she's working on!

Secondly, Kara's new story "Phase Day" has been published in the latest Devilfish Review. You can read it free online now, and listen to her do a short reading from it on YouTube.

Also, (Re)Gen was fun for both of us! Kara had a blast interviewing many of our actor and writer guests, Ginger got to do a reading onstage with Katy Manning, and Ms. Manning also walked off with one of Ginger's shirts! (As in it was given to her -- she didn't actually just walk off with it.)

Now we're both prepping for PotterVerse, Onezumi Events's new Harry Potter convention! Guests so far include Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley), Adrian Rawlins (James Potter), and Miriam Margolyes (Professor Sprout)! Ginger will be handling publications while Kara works in Programming and writes for the site's blog -- and they will probably also be crying over photos of dogs and actors in their hotel room.

Tune in next week for more news!
